As Chiropractors in the South Jordan area, we work a lot with people suffering from chronic neck and upper back pain. Often times it sets in after a long days work at the computer. These kind of symptoms are often caused by what is called a forward head carriage. The average head weighs about 8 pounds. If you were to hold an 8 pound bowling ball in your hand and then try and hold it out in front of you, the further away it is, the harder it is to hold up. This same principle applies to your head. The more you carry it forward, the more strain it has on your spine and muscles often causing headaches, neck and back pain. Through adjustments, muscle work, and home exercises, we can help you take control of your symptoms and fix the problem at its roots.

If a forward head carriage is not corrected in proper time, it usually leads to another condition called upper cross syndrome. What happens here is certain muscles like the pecs and scalene muscles become very tight while other muscles like the rhomboids and deep neck flexors become weak and stretched. This in turn will make it much more difficult to re-correct and prevent from returning.
If this sounds like something you struggle with, we are here to help get you out of pain, and revive your health!
